Surface and Position

The light and the shade on an object define the form and structure of its surface. The position of the object is defined by the position of its shadow. As example the accompanying ball. Please hold the mouse-pointer over the picture.

 

An other structure of the balls surface. The even gray areas evoke the impression, that the object is no longer a ball but an object with plane surfaces. This impression is not changed or disturbed by the circle as outline, which doesn´t fit to the structure.
